The fact that in the movie is always raining helps us to understand the mood the keep reapeting during the whole movie. They used this techniques to help the viewer feeling the mood that the characters have. Dark, b&w and red colours are the main colours in the movie.
The strong and intense music helps us to stay intricate to watch the movie.
The contrast of the personality of the two main characters is interesting. David Mills(Brad Pitt) is a negative person, always thinking about the worse of people, or situations. He is an emotively instable person, always getting angry for everything. This personality is been showed by how he is represented. His clothes are always in a trashy way, his hairs are messy and the way he talks (swearing). All of this make us understand what kind of person he is.
On the other hand there is Somerset (Morgan Freeman)which is a kind and relaxed person. He always thinks positively, always trying to find a solution where there isn't one. Always doing his best for his work, always have deep thought. This personality is represented as well on the way he looks and talk. Always with a suit, and talks in a relaxed way, as if he's not in rush.
What I like about the movie is the theme. All the crime are been made in base of the Seven Deadly Sins, which is a topic that not everyone discussed before. This topic keep going all over the movie, until the end, without interruptions. The end surprised me. I was expecting that they would caught him and put the killer in the jail, (as almost every thriller movie) but this didn't happen. They challenged this "stereotype" by giving a bad/good ending to the characters. We don't see what happen after the death of the killer, and this makes us think about what might happened.
